For most of us, our termination point is in the living room. To transfer data to, say our study, one way is to setup a wireless hotspot using the gateway provided by the service provider. Another way is to use homeplugs. In this way, you do not have to trunk cables, or fear signal loss using wireless. This blog aims to show homeplugs can be used for fibre optics. (which some service providers say cannot be done..)

Location of second homeplug and router
The second homeplug is in my study. It charges my mobile phone at the same time.
The Lan cable from the home plug is connected to the Gateway, provided by M1. It connects up to 4 other PCs, and serve as wireless hotspot as well.
Hi, I am getting my optic next month.. was thinking of getting homeplug from aztech... any comment about aztech product???? which provider are you using
i am currently on M1, as I found it most cost effective. They allow you to rent the gateway for $2.00 a month, instead of buying. I do not need tie ups to cable or mio-tv, so I did not consider singtel or starhub as they are more expensive.
imho..Aztech sells the best homeplugs around. They are a Singapore company, and the reason they are still around, is because of their homeplugs.
Get the one with AC bypass: you can still use the plug as a charger for other appliance.

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteCurrently I'm experiencing a wireless dead zone on level 3 of my house, would using home plugs be effective??
Also, the LAN cable from the wireless Huawei Gateway to the Homeplug is provided or do I have to purchase it??
Thanks!
